History
In 2007 while skiing in the French Alps Jean-Claude Baumgartner came across the
opportunity to develop a ski GPS software system. His love for sport,
creative thinking and vision to see the possibility to develop this product as
the first interactive trail map began. How many people use a paper road map anymore?
Over the following 2 years, the ski GPS software was named Satski, a standalone GPS
released and continually improved (longer battery life, better screen, stronger GPS receiver),
seeing the trend towards multifunctional mobile phones, a Windows Mobile app was released and
continual research resulted in further useful and fun features being added to the ski app,
such as, buddy tracking (find your friends) geo-tag photos.
In 2008 additional sport GPS apps were released, one called Pocket Caddy
for golf and another called Satsports Log for running, cycling, hiking, mountain
biking and walking. All applications unique in their own right.
In 2009 Jean-Claude presented a confident pitch on the UK TV show Dragons Den for
investment during a Sport Relief special show to enable the business to grow internationally.
He left the den with the investment he was looking for. Please meet the
Dragon investors.
In the last 6 months Satsports has set up a head office in London UK, with distribution
partners in Canada, Australia, and Europe. With the recent release of Satsports
apps for iPhone and
Blackberry, more sportspersons can enjoy Satsports. Retail sales have included
Harrods, Dixon Travel and Maplin.
More recently Satsports ventured into a new design and development area for
mobile applications with the launch of their
Tourism Vancouver City Smart application. This part of the business will be featured
in a new division and info will be available from

Reason for investing in Satsports
I decided to invest in Satsports because I can see the huge potential in mobile
application downloads. I was also impressed in how far Jean-Claude had taken the
business in such a short space of time.
